A prayer for the longest night

In this season of togetherness,

Please be with those of us who are

Alone, or surrounded by people but feeling alone, or separated from loved ones

You gave us Jesus, Immanuel,

You are God with us

You are with us in all our moments and our days

When we are experiencing distance from loved ones, our friends or family,

Fill our quiet moments with your peace

May be willing to receive assistance from those who know we are missing someone

May we be willing to give in our broken heartedness to help someone

Help us connect with others who are near

And those who may be experiencing the same feelings of solitude

Close the distance and comfort us in our yearning

Cover us with your Holy Spirit and grace

Fill our moments and days with your all-surpassing love

Give us practical ways to meet our needs and the needs of those around us

A knock on a door, a meal shared, a listening ear on the phone

Thank you for being God with us

Thank you for community

Help us when we are missing ours to find a way

Your way through

We love you God with us
